FOR THOSE EXPERIENCING CANCER

Hey God,

Please remember us.

Remember those hearing their cancer diagnosis for the first time today.
Remember their families and friends who love them and need your strength to rise up around them.

God, remember those receiving treatment today.
Remember those receiving bad news today.
Remember those who are fearful and those who are alone in the journey today.

Remember those who can't afford cancer.

Remember those suffering and in pain.

Those who can not eat.

Those who can not rest

Those who fear death.

God, remember those calling on your name.

Can you hear us, ...God?

Will you answer our prayers, ...God?

Are you there, ...God?

Remember us this day, Emmanuel.

Give us peace.

Give us hope.
Give us rest.

Comfort us in all that concerns us.

In Jesus’ name,

Have mercy.

Amen.

ABOUT THIS PRAYER

It had been more than a year and a half since I had last received treatment in that hospital. During the visit, I was acutely aware of the tremendous number of people in the cancer treatment unit. I was soft and tender, and I was shaken as I remembered my experiences there. When I finished my treatment, I walked past the chapel, then stopped; I paused, returned, and went in. I sat, bowed my head, resting it on my cane, took a breath, and whispered, "God, remember us."
